Pigmented Dark Patch Treatments

Choose a medical skin peel for your skin type and for the result you want to achieve. Lasers are also used very successfully for the treatment of pigmented lesions.

The most efficient way to produce an even skin tone, free of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, is to eliminate the skin cells rich in melanin and prevent the darkening of the new skin cells. Target problem areas with a White Peel medical skin peel. It penetrates skin pigment cells to gently and efficiently reduce the appearance of unwanted discolouration for even skin tone.

For pigmented lesions, the Q-Switched Ruby Laser might be the best option. It produces extremely short pulses of high energy red light. This light is absorbed by the pigmentation. Your body’s own immune system activates and removes the marks gradually. Expect the Ruby laser to be mildly uncomfortable. The level of pain depends on the area being treated. Your skin may blister, but it will heal in a week or so. Advanced fluorescent technology works in a similar way to the Ruby Laser. The AFT 570 works best on smaller, less noticeable marks. The AFT 540 is used for darker marks with a high concentration of melanin. The length of treatment depends on the size of the pigmented area, and more than one treatment is often needed. Treatment with Advanced Fluorescent Technology is not as painful; most people compare it to the snap of an elastic band.

Full recovery from either treatment usually takes between 4-6 weeks, during which time sun screen factor 30+ must be used, or the area must be covered.
