Skin Tightening

Laser Skin Tightening

Laser skin tightening is the age-defying treatment that is effective for the improvement of general skin laxity, ageing skin and sagging skin.

Why have Laser Skin Tightening?

When it comes to anti-ageing, there’s so many treatments on the market that it can get a little confusing.

With the latest in market-leading technology now available for Skin Tightening, we can achieve visible tightening results, without the need for invasive and expensive surgical procedures.

What are the benefits?

  • Targets stubborn, loose areas on the face
  • Effective on delicate skin e.g. neck
  • Safe and comfortable treatment
  • Minimal downtime
  • Kind to the skin
  • Boosts collagen for a natural anti-ageing result
  • Non-Invasive

How does it work?

Laser skin tightening is a non-invasive treatment that works by delivering energy deep in the tissues to cause a controlled heat injury.
When the skin becomes injured, it stimulates the skin to respond with its natural healing mechanism, this produces collagen cells, which in turn tighten up the skin.

FAQs

Yes, during your consultation we will discuss any medication you’re on and look closely at your skin.

The consultation is important as it will allow us to personalise a treatment plan for you and to also discuss any complications that may occur.

One treatment will produce visible results, however, we recommend a course of  3-6 sessions to ensure long lasting great results.
If you’re looking to have just one treatment, you should return to the clinic for a follow-up between 4- 6 weeks after the treatment for additional treatment as required.

Common Side-effects

The most common after effect is redness and mild irritation of the skin that can last for a day or so. The skin may also become fragile at the treatment site, if this happens, avoid makeup or rubbing the skin in the area for approx. 24 hrs.

During your consultation, we will give you an aftercare advice sheet to follow.

With certain skin types, changes in skin colour (either darker or lighter) can occur.

This normally settles in time, although we can’t guarantee a complete return to normal pigmentation.

Additional Complications:

Complications may include blistering, fine crusting, particularly on very fine vessels, scarring, ulceration, loss of skin pigment or increased pigmentation. Whilst we have never experienced any long-lasting complications we cannot guarantee that they would not be permanent.

The cost of the treatment is dependent upon the area treated.

During your consultation, we will give you the cost once we’ve assessed your skin/ medical history.

Yes, it’s quite often beneficial to combine with another treatment such as a skin peel in order to achieve maximum results.

During your consultation, we will discuss the benefits of possible combination treatments.

The type of skin that responds well is skin that has lost its structure and elasticity, skin that has lost its laxity and skin that is sagging.

You should take care to prevent trauma to the treated area for the first four to five days following treatment.

Avoid hot baths, sauna, solarium, aerobic exercise, and massage. It is also advised to avoid rough sport for a few days.

Yes, this is important before and after treatment.

Before treatment:

You will need to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen before and in between treatments.

After treatment:

You should apply a high factor sunscreen ( SPF 30+) and protect the treated area from exposure to direct sunlight for at least one month following treatment. Tanning after treatment may enhance melanin regeneration, which may result in hyperpigmentation.

You can apply make-up may on the day following treatment unless blistering or crusting develops, however, since the skin is sensitive during this period, take special care when removing make-up to avoid damage to the skin.

Damage to the site can predispose the site to infection.

You will require a consultation before embarking on any treatment regime.

Test patches are also undertaken during your consultation. If the patient is under 18, q parent or guardian must accompany them.

Am I Eligible?

Certain conditions mean that not everyone is eligible for treatment. If you suffer from any of the following, this treatment may not be for you:

– Hypersensitive to light

– Has an outbreak of Herpes Simplex (Cold sores)

– Vitiligo

– Epidermolysis Bullossa

Please note that other conditions may affect eligibility.

Dark Skin:

We will discuss pigment changes with patients with very dark skin, this is because they are at greater risk of pigment changes.

Other factors

It is better to delay the treatment if you are pregnant and to advise the clinic staff if you are taking oral steroids.

Sun exposure:

We may exclude you from treatment if you are expecting prolonged sun exposure during the upcoming month or if you have had prolonged sun exposure or artificial tanning during the last 48hrs.
