The major benefit of having dermal fillers is that improvement can be seen virtually immediately and lasts between 4-6 months.
Dermal Fillers
One of the brands we use, Restylane®, was the first hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler to receive FDA approval and is now one of the most tried and tested of all hyaluronic acid fillers in the world.

How do dermal fillers work?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural protein already present in the skin. It is readily found in the fluids in the eyes and in joints and can be injected into the joints to help conditions such as osteoarthritis.
When hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin it is naturally integrated into the tissue, adding volume. It can, therefore, be used to smooth out facial folds and wrinkles as well as to enhance lips, cheeks and chins. One of the many brands we use is Belotero® and is perfect for ‘smoker’s lines’, the lips, tell-tale drying and wrinkling of the décolletage as well as smile lines and the backs of hands.
Hyaluronic acid comes as a clear gel and is injected into the skin in small amounts with a very fine needle. Which dermal filler we use depends on the reason for treatment as one product that works well on deep wrinkles will not work as well on very fine lines or skin with orange peel texture.
Actual results vary person to person and it is important to have realistic expectations of dermal filler treatment. This will be fully discussed during your consultation.
FAQ’s
Are there any side effects?
You may get some injection-related reactions such as bleeding or swelling at the injection sites that will usually only last for one or two days. Other reactions are rare but will be discussed fully during your consultation.
Is it suitable for everyone?
Hyaluronic acid dermal filler treatment is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended within 2 weeks of laser treatment or chemical peeling. It is important that you wait until the skin has completely healed. Similarly, it is wise not to have any other skin treatment after treatment for at least 2 weeks. Treatment is not recommended in an area where the skin is inflamed, infected or if you have any other active skin disease in the area to be treated.
How often can I repeat the treatment?
Restylane® should last between 4-6 months so we recommend waiting until the cosmetic effect has worn off.
