Laser Resurfacing

Laser peels and laser skin resurfacing can be extremely effective in reducing facial lines and wrinkles.

Laser Resurfacing Treatments

At Laserase Bolton we use the Harmony Pixel Laser for laser peels and skin resurfacing. This laser is designed to improve the quality and texture of skin while stimulating collagen regeneration. What’s most important is that the Harmony Pixel does all of this without the major side effects associated with other treatments.

The Harmony Pixel Laser combines the proven effectiveness of an ablative approach with the comfort of a non-ablative approach. This means it can be used on any area that has surface irregularities including the neck and décolletage.

The Harmony Pixel Laser is known as a fractional resurfacing laser. When used, multiple laser beams penetrate the upper and lower layers of the skin creating microscopic heat injured zones or “pixels” approximately 1cm x 1cm in size.

There are multiple settings on the Harmony Pixel laser depending on the reason for treatment and how deep need to treat.

The microscopic heat injured areas start to heal straight away. The collagen in the skin remodels, the skin itself tightens and the overall texture of the treated area improves resulting in smoother, refreshed-looking skin.

During laser peels not all of the skin is heat injured at any one time, there is slight discomfort during or after treatment. Most will feel a slight warmth and a tingling sensation from the laser as it passes over the skin. The skin will be red and can feel tight, like sunburn, for around 48 hours and then will take on a pinkish tone for 5-7 days.

Does it hurt?

No anaesthetic is required for this treatment and most patients experience little or no discomfort.

How long does it take?

Sessions can last from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the size or the treatment area.

How quickly will I see results?

Skin will look better 10-14 days after the first treatment and then steadily improve with repeated sessions.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the severity of the skin problem. Because the area around the pixels is untreated, multiple treatments are usually needed approximately 3-4 weeks apart. This will be discussed in full at your consultation.

Are there any side effects?

The skin will be red and can feel tight, like sunburn, for around 48 hours and then will take on a pinkish tone for 5-7 days. Your skin naturally exfoliates itself and may flake but an un-perfumed moisturiser can easily mask this.
