Our Story

How Laserase Bolton began – 20 years of history in treating conditions with lasers, products and technology.

The initial concept for Laserase Bolton was created completely by chance, founder Denise Leslie met Dr Ian Wright on a Himalayan expedition in 1993. They discussed the potential business of Tattoo Removal using the then very new laser technologies, and the growing demand for wanting to remove tattoos.

The concept became a reality as the business idea grew into a new service. Rooms were taken within the old Bolton Hospital, Orthopaedic department. These were the first NHS rooms for private use to provide laser treatments in the UK.

As the new infirmary was completed in 1996 the service moved across to the current site in Farnworth.

In 1996, the business was joined by Dr Kiran Patel, local well respected GP with a special interest in dermatology and skin disease. The clinic joined with a national network of Laserase clinics which helped develop and grow the business working with other medical teams. Dr Patel is a member of BCAM and the BMLA two professional UK associations in this field of specialism.

The business grew and strengthened adding Laser hair removal services and treatments for acne. The tattoo removal remained one of the main treatments with the clinic gaining a reputation in the North West and much further afield.

Growing on the strength of the medical team offering excellent treatments in a medical setting, the results spoke for themselves. A high number of patients were referred by other medical professionals from the NHS and the business grew, offering more aesthetic treatments including injections for wrinkle reduction and skin treatments. Adding to the expertise in Acne and associated conditions.

Laserase Bolton was one of the first private laser clinics in the UK to be registered with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) { http://www.cqc.org.uk} and the first private clinic to treat children. The clinic is set up to meet the strict requirements of governance frameworks needed for the NHS. The integrity and skill of the staff has always been paramount and the clinic only employs medically trained staff to carry out medical treatments. All practitioners are time served medical professionals that have been with the clinic for a long time they constantly attend trainings and conferences to be able to offer the most up to date advice on all aspects of treatments.

The growth and expansion created by the need for the services meant the clinic outgrew its hospital space and in 2009 it moved to a separate site opposite the ambulance station with its own onsite parking and its own identity. The additional space allowed an expansion into new technology and further treatments were added. Newer hair removal laser technology which treated patients without the same discomfort as earlier treatments. The addition of lasers for resurfacing and correction of colour.

Today the strong clinical direction remains in everything offered. Treatments are those that can be trusted, and any new treatments offered are tested and assessed to make sure they give positive outcomes every time.

Laserase Bolton today is a private organisation with its own site within the grounds of Bolton Royal Infirmary. It treats a range of conditions and its CQC registration and own policies ensures an excellent governance framework. This results in high standards at every level of treatment.
