Laser Hair Removal

hair removalLaser hair removal is an effective way of getting rid of unwanted facial and body hair and means no more constant waxing or shaving.

The Soprano XL laser is one of the best lasers available on the market today and is a fast, efficient and virtually painless way to remove hair from any part of the body. Unlike lower quality lasers and IPL machines, the Soprano laser can be used on any skin type and most hair colours with great success.

There are three stages of hair growth:

Anagen – where the hair grows

Telogen – a resting phase

Catagen – where the hair falls out.

Only a small percentage of your hair is in the “anagen” or growing stage at any one time and the laser does not destroy hair in the “telogen” or resting phase. This means it will take a few sessions before all hair is completely gone.

The Soprano XL laser is ten times faster than most other lasers on the market. Unlike other lasers, the Soprano has two modes, a Super Hair Removal (SHR) mode and a Hair Removal (HR Mode.)

Most other hair removal lasers have only the HR mode. HR mode targets individual hair follicles causing heat injury to the hair. This is great for smaller areas or on more stubborn hairs but is time consuming.

SHR mode gradually heats the skin and hair follicles meaning a large area can be treated all in one go.

The different options available with the Soprano laser means that it can be used anywhere – chin, cheeks, legs as well as more sensitive areas like the ears, nose, chest and bikini line.

The heat produced from both the SHR and the HR modes damages the hairs at the root, preventing regrowth. Skin is protected from heat damage by a cooling gel applied directly to the skin and by the cooling tip on the hand piece of the laser.

Why hair reduction and not hair removal?

We think it’s more honest. The Soprano does not remove all hair in one treatment; it gradually reduces the amount of hair growth over a short period of time.

How many treatments will I need?

As with most treatments, this varies person to person. To give an example of treatment length, it can take 4-6 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart. At your consultation you will be given an idea of treatment length and the price for each session.

Why choose laser hair reduction?

Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are all temporary and must be repeated regularly. With electrolysis, although also permanent, it can take years of painful treatments to achieve the same results as with the Soprano laser.

Is treatment painful?

Most people experience a slight stinging sensation. People with darker hair or skin may feel the laser slightly more as their skin will absorb more energy. The cooling gel and the tip of the laser both help minimise skin reactions.

Are there any side effects?

Redness and mild irritation is common and can last a day or so. Slight swelling of the treated area can also occur and usually subsides in a couple of hours. On rare occasions there may be bruising caused by damaged blood vessels or slight blistering of the skin but again this should go away within a few hours. We will always do a patch test with you to see how your skin reacts to treatment.

Review by Jackie J

I had five sessions with the Soprano XL laser to remove hair on my legs and bikini line and I am now having my underarm hair treated.

I had been thinking about laser hair reduction treatment for a while as I was keen to get rid of some unwanted hair in one or two places such as my legs, so I could wear a wider range of nice clothes rather than sticking with trousers.

Everyone at Laserase Bolton was lovely and put me at ease straight away.

Although laser hair reduction usually takes several sessions, my treatment was so successful that the hair hardly grew back at all. I was delighted with the results – it turned out better than I ever expected.

The treatment was completely painless and I was very surprised that it didn’t hurt at all. I asked Saria the nurse when she was going to start and she said ‘I’m already doing it’!

Laser hair reduction treatment is the best thing I have ever done and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have unwanted hair removed. I told my daughter how great the treatment was and she is going to have it done too.
