What system is used at the Laserase clinic?
There are a huge number of laser and IPL options to choose
from for hair reduction (and for white and grey hair, which lasers
and IPLs cannot treat, there are also electrolysis techniques).
We have been using lasers for depilation since we trialled
an early hair removal laser in 1995. Having had access to all of
the options, we used an Alexandrite laser for many years. However
technology has moved
on
and we have recently invested in a state of the art Soprano XL
laser which provides the very best balance of results, speed
and comfort.
The Soprano XL laser is suitable for all skin types,
hair types and most hair colours, although red hair does not
always respond and white or grey hair cannot be treated. A typical
protocol would initially suggest
treatments at 4-8 week intervals and generally between 4-10
sessions
may be required. This may vary depending on the individual
skin type and treatment
response. An added bonus with this new system is the fact that,
unlike other systems, hair does not need to be visible above
the surface of the skin
for the laser to be effective on it.
A test patch is generally
required before treatment commences. As with all laser treatments
the area should be protected from
direct sunlight and a high factor sun screen (SPF30+) applied
daily for at least 3 months
after laser treatment.
